g-Pore is the working title of a consortium established between ChiPro Gmbh, the Jacobs University in Bremen und the participation of the University of Buenos Aires. The technology applied is an innovative and rapid bio separation technology based on Non Woven materials for recovery and purification of various molecules, e.g. recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. This technology combines the high resolution, high binding capacity with selectivity and specificity typical of conventional media with high throughput gPore media and offered as disposable devices with tailored flow distribution properties. The high performance gPore NW module has been designed for the integration and intensification of downstream processing of diagnostic or therapeutic bio products, also applicable in more industrial oriented biotechnological processes.
The process is in the testing and application phase now with partners producing bio-molecules, some of them from the Intenso project:
ChiPro pariticipates in the european project funded by the 7th Framework Programme INTENSO. It is a 7 million euros funded project which is led by the Jacobs University in Germany and counts with the co-participation of 16 companies and universities from 11 different countries. The duration of the project is 4 and a half years.
INTENSO - Gaining Productivity, Cost Efficiency and Sustainability in the Downstream Processing of Bio Products by Novel Integration and Intensification Strategies
The Intenso project is about identifying the bottlenecks in the currently used downstream processing methods, and finding new solutions to circumvent them. This is highly relevant for any and all biotechnical products, as downstream processes account for more than 80% of the manufacturing costs. The Intenso approach will not concentrate solely on the effectiveness of the new methods, but will strive to lead to a sustainable approach, factoring in risk management derived from economic, environmental, and social developments, also including government policies and legal constraints.
ChiPro’s mission is to develop and demonstrate novel hybrid disposable cartridges based fibrous adsorbents at pilot scale for cost-effective separation and purification in downstream processing of biotechnological products.
